Beauty is my favourite. I love how detail it is, how the lights need to be precise and how model needs to pose a certain way, the challenge on placing the hand in the right spot. I love the how challenging it is. It always push me to think.
Few weeks ago I uploaded images from the last beauty shoot I did (www.noahasanias.com/beauty) and today I'll be posting the process behind it and what I appreciate about this kind of shoots
I was contacted by Zanna and Katrina from The Artistry Collective to do a collaboration with them. I was so excited to do this because (again) Beauty is my Favourite! So immediately I start doing my research. I looked for inspirational images, I want something that will benefit the whole team, me, the stylist, the makeup artist, hairstylist and model. I always dream of shooting for big brands such as De Beers, BVLGARI, Dior, Tiffany&Co, etc. So I put together a shoot that will target my desired clients. I want it to be elegant.
After 3-5 days of planning with Zanna and Katrina, we finally have a clear view of what we want. Now its time to bring more people in the team. The Artistry Collective decided that they'll do the hair and makeup, I called my stylist friend Lacey to do the styling and I contacted Elsa Corsi for Jewellery, luckily she's keen to it. So now the only one we need is a Model, Its funny how fast we found a model. We contacted Next Canada and they gave us selections of who's in town that are available and as soon as we got the list the team picked the same model. (that was easy :) )
Now it's time to shoot. I always asked the MUA & Stylist to come earlier than the call time so we can discuss a few things light how the lighting will work, what's our limitation, how much time do they need for preparation etc.
The Artistry Collective did the hair and make up for 1 1/2 hour (that's really fast considering only one person is doing that)
While they are doing the hair and make up I was Busy Setting up the light. Here is my light setup:
So when the shoot was done its time for retouching (biggest Challenge) this will tage hours/days/weeks depending how fast you are and how clean you want it. On this shoot I was surprised that I was 80% done retouching one image before the shoot was done (yes there's a lot of waiting time, when we change looks because the hair and make up will change too) It took me a week to finish retouching 5 images (i think that's pretty fast) im sure I have missed some small details and I can improve it more. But for now I'm pretty happy with what I got.

One of the most important thing for me when I'm retouching is keeping the skin texture. This is actually one of the biggest challenge. That's why I'm so happy with these images because the skin texture is still there, the skin still looks dewy and its clean :)
Hope you enjoy this blog!
